XISS Ranchi joins Smile Foundation’s I am Kalam movement July 16, 2011

Xavier’s Institute of Social Studies, Ranchi, has also joined Smile Foundation’s I am Kalam movement. Smile Foundation has initiated a movement of “Sending Every Child to School” and is sensitizing children, the youth and the civil society at large about this movement with its film I am Kalam. Smile Foundation will be taking this movement to 100 leading colleges and institutes and 1000 leading schools across India to ensure mass participation and sensitization. After a special promo screening of the film, a quiz related to the film was conducted and I am Kalam goodies were given to winners. A slogan writing competition based on child labour and mandatory child education was also conducted. This sensitization drive with XISS was closed with all the students signing of pledges for the cause of Sending Every Child o School.

I am Kalam hosts its first ever preview for Mumbai

Smile Foundation proudly celebrated and unveiled, a brief special preview of the film ‘I Am Kalam’ for the media at Hotel Sea Princess, Juhu, Mumbai. Smile Foundation also showcased the fresh new look of the posters and the trailors of the film, besides introducing brief details on the ‘I AM KALAM movement; post the release of the internationally acclaimed film.

 

Along with director Nila Madhab Panda, producer Santanu Mishra, associate producer Jitendra Mishra and entire star cast of the film, present for the occasion were noted celebs like singer and music director Shankar Mahadevan, choreographer and director Remo D’souza, actor Jacky Bhagnani, MTV reality show producer Raghu Ram, MTV VJ Ayushman Khuranna, MTV VJ Siddharth, actor Roshni Chopra, actor and singer Ila Arun and many more industry biggies.

 

All the people present for the occasion signed pledges for Smile Foundation’s I am Kalam movement and this is how the event was brought to a close.

 

Smile Foundation will be reaching out to 1000 schools and 200 corporates with the I am Kalam movement post the release of the film. With this movement Smile Foundation aims at sensitizing 10Lac children directly and a population of 30L ac indirectly.

'I am Kalam' sets off on a nationwide tour July 07, 2011

Smile Foundation’s I am Kalam slated for a nationwide theatrical release on August 05, set off on a nationwide tour. Centuryply, the market leader of the plywood & veneer industry in India, is the presenting partner of the film and flagged off the tour at the City of Joy, the cultural epicenter of the country – Kolkata.

Commencing in Kolkata 'I am Kalam' will further travel to Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Delhi and Mumbai. This pre-release 5 city tour is purposed to sensitize the opinion makers of all the cities about the important message of ‘Compulsory Education for Children’ that I' am Kalam' conveys. Since opinion makers have great influence on the masses, turning them into individual representatives of the cause would progressively result in mass sensitization; the main objective of this award winning feature film.

Present for the Kolkata tour were the entire cast of 'I am Kalam' including actors Gulshan Grover, 58th National Award winner Harsh Mayar, Pitobash Tripathy, Husaan Saad, Garima and Beatrice Ordeix. Also present at the event were director Nila Madhab Panda, and associate producer Jitendra Mishra.

Kalam reaches 300 school goers in UKJune 29, 2011
I am Kalam was screened for 300 school goers in UK at the Model United Nations Summit. After the screening the students were made aware of all the Millennium Development Goals and how they are affecting the slum communities in India. They were also given insights of the main issues in the developing country like India and how Smile Foundation is working towards achieving these Millennium Development Goals.
FMS Delhi pledges for the I am Kalam driveJuly 11, 2011
Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi has also joined I am Kalam’s national youth drive. I am Kalam reached the premium management institute on the 11th of July and saw a mass participation from all the students. After a special promo screening of the film, a quiz related to the film was conducted and I am Kalam goodies were given to winners. A slogan writing competition based on child labour and mandatory child education was also conducted. “Tie a Tie” activity that was done with the students also turned out to be a major hit. This sensitization drive with FMS was closed with all the students signing of pledges for the cause of Sending Every Child o School.
Third IIM newest member of the Kalam drive! July 08, 2011

I am Kalam’s national youth drive has proved to a major hit, especially with the students at the IIMs. After Ahmedabad and Indore, IIM Lucknow is the third IIM to have joined the Kalam drive. On the 8th of July, I am Kalam reached IIM Lucknow for a special promo screening of the film. This was followed by a group discussion about the ways to fight the grave issue of Child Labour in the country.  Also an IAK quiz was conducted for the students and was participated by all. This sensitization campaign was also adorned with signing of pledges for the cause of Sending Every Child o School.

IIM Indore – the latest joinees of the Kalam drive! July 06, 2011
I am Kalam is on a national youth drive. On the 6th of July, Kalam reached IIM, Indore. The students enthusiastically participated in the I am Kalam drive. After a special promo screening, the students had a group discussion about the ways to fight the grave issue of Child Labour in the country.  Also an IAK quiz was conducted for the students and was participated by all.
BBCIT Hyderabad – the new ones joining the Kalam drive!July 04 2011
The newest member of the I am Kalam movement is BBCIT Hyderabad. A sensitization drive was conducted where the students were showed a screener of the film and a quiz was based on the film was conducted. The quiz became quite a hit and all the students present there were very enthusiastic about joining the drive of Kalam and to begin with, they all joined Kalam on the facebook page www.facebook.com/kforkalam 
Film screened specially for the Mumbai Dabbawalas July 03, 2011

I am Kalam was specially screened for the Dabbawala Sangathan of Mumbai.  Actor Pitobash Tripathy, who plays the character of Laptan in the film, was present for the screening. The President of the Dabbawala Sangathan, Yamuna Sakaram Ghule, who was also present for the screening said “It is a very good film. It was a very nice gesture of Smile Foundation to screen the film for us. We have been made to feel really special. And on behalf of the entire family I wish this film and Smile Foundation best of luck.

Future Leaders at IIM Ahmedabad join the Kalam drive! June 26, 2011
I am Kalam is on a national youth drive. On the 26th of June, Kalam reached IIM, Ahmedabad. The participation and interaction of the students was as magnificent as the campus. A special promo screening was organised for the students there, followed by an IAK quiz. A group discussion was also conducted post this, wherein different student groups came forward with solutions to fight the grave issue of Child Labour in the country. 
Special Screening in LA for Hollywood Bigwigs June 21, 2011

A series of special screenings starting June 21st 2011 has been organised by the USC School of Cinematic Arts and Smile Foundation. Gulshan Grover had to leave the premiere of his other film and had to rush to Los Angeles so he could join his friends and colleagues for the screenings.

NRAI School of Mass Communication, Management and Technology joins I am Kalam drive! June 14, 2011

A sensitization drive was conducted where the students were showed a screener of the film and a quiz was based on the film was conducted. Harsh celebrates his success with children from Smile FoundationJune 09, 2011

Harsh Mayar, after winning 58th National Award for his performance as Chhotu in I am Kalam, travelled to Lucknow for celebrating the success of the film with underprivileged children of Smile Foundation. He also gave a First Look of the film for these children. 

Polish students join Kalam’s drive June 06, 2011

A special promo screening of the film was done for a student’s group in Poland. The screening generated great enthusiasm among all the people present for the screening. This enthusiasm led to serious discussions on the issues of child labour and lack of child education in many countries across the globe and the ways to deal with it.

Nucleus Software pledges for I am Kalam June 03, 2011

I am Kalam was screened for 1200 employees of Nucleus Software, NOIDA. All the people were very enthusiastic about the film’s theatrical release, so they could watch the film along with their friends and family. They also took a pledge to support underprivileged children – like Chhotu – and help brightening their future.

After participating in over 25 International Film Festivals across the globe, Smile Foundation’s I am Kalam was finally screened for the Delhi audience at the prestigious Habitat Film Festival. The Habitat Film Festival is a weeklong extravaganza of films from across the country.
Harsh Mayar wins 58th National Award May 19, 2011
Harsh Mayar, has won the National Award for his exemplary performance as Chhotu in I am Kalam. He won the award as the Best Child Artiste. With this the film now has 12 awards to its credit. Harsh has also been awarded with a Special Diploma for Best Actor Work at the Minsk International Film Festival Listapadzik.

After becoming a huge hit at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, and winning the Audience Choice Award for the Best Feature Film, Prince Charles, has expressed keen interest in watching the film and has requested a special screening to be done at the Buckingham Palace. Gulshan Grover, who acts in the film had discussed the film with him.

I am Kalam opened this year’s Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and became a huge hit with the audience. Actor Gulshan Grover and director Nila Madhab Panda had travelled to Los Angeles for the festival. The film was awarded the Best Feature Film by Audience Choice after the tremendous reaction it got. Director Nila Madhab Panda wins Aravindan Puraskaram March 06, 2011
The prestigious Aravindan Puraskaram (Best Debut Director award) of the Chalachitra Film Society, has been awarded to director Nila Madhab Panda for his extraordinary work in I am Kalam. The film is a feature debut of Madhab who had has to his credit over 60 documentaries, shorts, television drama and films for national broadcasters.

I am Kalam was screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. The film has received great response from the audience and the media present at the film festival. The film was awarded the Best Feature Film by the Young Jury at the festival.
